Pop-ups what are they and why do I get them?
Unfortunately pop-ups are how some Companies get money and they fund many
websites in which you get free information from. Although some websites are so
desperate for money some of the Pop-ups your receive are pretty bad, meaning
they are of the adult nature, that is why people have started developing popup
blockers. To our knowledge there are three types of Pop-Ups.
The first type of Pop-ups are from the actual websites in
which you visit, these type of Pop-ups can be blocked with ease by going to a
Site such as http://toolbar.google.com/ (my
personal preference but you can probably go to your favorite search engine and
they will have a similar product) and downloading a free Toolbar with a
Pop-Up Blocker built right. The reason I prefer Google's Pop-up Blocker is
that it has an easy to use blocking toggle for those certain websites where a
Pop-Up window maybe required to view or to secure content.
The second type of popup occurs with out visiting a website. These type of Pop-Ups are actually know as Spy Ware or Ad Ware. They are usually installed with Peer to Peer software such as Kaza or Bearshare. In order to get rid of these type of Pop-Up you need to either uninstall the software you think might be providing the unwanted Pop-Ups or download a Spy Ware or Ad Ware Remover. My personal preference for this task is SpyBot Search & Destroy which is found at Download.com for free or another popular program called Ad-aware which also can be found at Download.com .
The Last type of Pop-Ups occur also with out visiting a website these Pop-Ups are know as Messenger Service. Which is a program built into windows which was originally meant to allow system administrators to Message your computer to inform you about network outages and important information but like all things that don't get locked down they become an annoyance and problem.
