Messenger Service, what is it and why does it bug me?
Messenger Service is a program built into windows which was originally meant to allow system administrators to Message your computer to inform you about network outages and important information but like all things that don't get locked down they become an annoyance and problem. Follow these instructions or feel free to call our office.
Step 1
The fist think you will need to do is go to the control panel. Once your are
there it might look like this if not go to step 2.
If it does look like this click on "Switch to Classic View" Located on
the left of this window.

Step 2
Next you will need to locate and double click on "Administrative Tools"
Highlight in blue in the following picture.

Step 3
Now locate and double click on "Services" Highlighted in blue in the following
picture.

Step 4
In the Following step is important not to touch any else in this window unless
you know what you are doing.
Locate and double click on "Messenger" as selected in the following image.

Step 5
Now to Disable the Messenger Service simply go to "Startup type" and use
the drop down menu.
From the drop down menu select "disabled" in the following two Pictures.
Then Click on "Apply" Once "Disabled" is Selected.


Step 6
Now that the Service is disabled click on "Stop" and you will see the
process occur.
Then click on "OK" On the Box Labeled "Messenger Properties (Local Computer)"

Step 7
You will notice back at the "Services" Window Where you will now notice under
status for
Messenger is now blank meaning it no longer on.
